I found another picture of someone kissing Keirn. I mean I guess we just like to get our kissy faces on. Keirn always gets all the action.  Posted by Picasa

Newsflash... Hunter is NOT funny.

My away message: Cheming it up. Chemalicious. IONIZATIONING! No matter how you say it, studying for Chem is never cool.

Hunter's smartass:
it can be fun...try this...
DOING KIM!

If you see this kid on campus, tell him that he needs to stop making fun of me. Also, tell him to stop wearing his polo that looks like graph paper. AND, tell him he needs to start breathing through BOTH nostrils becuase normal people can.

In World Regions yesterday, he spent the whole lecture drawing pictures of "my boyfriends" and then one pretty badass mock picture of me (I'm going to have to give him credit for that because it was amaze). You'll get it when you see it or if you all ready have.

FIN. I have go to "do kim"

Washington, DC est bitchin'

Okay so, I was reading DCist today (and that's where I got the picture from) and there was a little article about how Cafe St.Ex is going to request that their coustomers do not sport the popped collar. Another reason to add to why this may just be one of my favorite Cafe's en DC. :)

Also in DC this week (and... also from DCist) there's a film project going on/film festivals. Go check them out if you can. PLEASE do it on my behalf. I would be there in a heartbeat if I could go home... but alas, school has me tied down to Blacksburg where Fall is in full swing. I'm loving the weather down here. It's getting colder and I get to sport my oxfords. I also have 3 tests this week. I've taken one all ready which I recently just found out I got a perfect score on. EXCITATION! :) Looks like this is going to be a good semester, but I've been saying that all along. Also, we have Homecoming next weekend and Fall Break so it's a 3 day weekend for the crazy kids that will be staying like me. I also booked the band Audrye Sessions at Deets on October 7th from 8-11pm so you should come out and watch them play and then party the rest of the night away with us. It will be great! I'm stoked. Oh yeah, Patrick is coming.

M: did you have a good time?
C: hell yes!
C: i had a wooooonderful time
C: you are a delight

So glad I got to spend time with this crazy kid this weekend. :)

Be there... make History (okay maybe not, but this will be very fun and you might as well try)

Oct. 9 on the Virginia Tech Drillfield: Beta Theta Pi presents- THE WORLDS LARGEST PILLOW FIGHT. Current Guinness Book Record 2773 people. $1 donation with all proceeds going to Hurricane relief through the Hokies United effort. BYOP.

See you there! This may actually be better than the Civilian v. Cadet snowball fight.

Drunk Keirn and I (PS: don't worry, this was not the Orange Effect game... so don't yell at me for wearing maroon). I'm pretty sure I kissed everyone within a 2 mile radius of me on the cheek this weekend.  Posted by Picasa

Drew L and Sagar... you can observe mild intoxication in this picture here.  Posted by Picasa

Sager and FISH = He who steals reserved seats... he who starts chants... he who is fabulously intoxicated at every Hokie football game. Posted by Picasa

Sager and Keirn. You know, Super Indian Kids. LOVE THEM!  Posted by Picasa

A typical Hokie Fan... you know the kind that shaves a VT into his head, paints some hokie tracks on... just in case people get confused as to whether or not he is a hokie. This is Sager Momin and he is AWESOME.  Posted by Picasa

Marching in DC

A good friend of mine called me earlier this week saying that she would be marching in DC this weekend. You know how we do... a small revolution here, another one there. Just kidding. Anyway, I'm glad she is standing up for what she believes in. More people need to do that, afterall, isn't that why we're all here? She makes me proud and I wish I could have been right there with her but alas... I am tucked away in the depths of Blacksburg, VA... Anyway, this picture is ridiculous. Look at all of the people! Ted Leo was there by the way. Lucky her.

Ohh, Oh, Oh, Oh Stick it in Stick it in Stick it in!

I love my frikin school. I went to the GA Tech game today and of course we killed them. That was expected. 51-7, at least we were nice enough to let them score. :) The game was great. I love Lane Stadium... everyone is so wack. Especially alumni. LOVE THEM! ESPN Gameday has been at our school since yesterday and it has been amazing. Also, Lee Corso is here and he openly admitted that he was a d-bag on national television by saying he was wrong about us being over rated.

"I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them."
(after his car got struck by lightning)

"Nobody is going to come to Lane Stadium and beat Virginia Tech." Got that right. No shit.

There's nothing like the satisfaction of seeing your team win and Lee Corso looking like an idiot... yet again.

Hokies United.

Okay so my school is trying to raise 250,000 dollars for the hurricaine victims and we've had really amazing events so far. The Juxta sponsored Acapella concert featuring all the acapella groups on campus was held on tuesday where we raised around 5,000 dollars brining our total up to 51,000 which is a great start. We're also having a 5k race and... are you ready? This one is my favorite... we're having a campus wide pillow fight on the drillfield (which is huge, if you didn't all ready know) and all proceeds are going to Katrina. This is almost going to be as great as the Cadet v. Civillian snowball fight that we have each year. I'm so excited! I'm also planning a benefit concert so I'm hoping all that works out but so far so good. The band Audrye Sessions agreed to play for free along with The Cushion Theory. Big thanks to Anton for that one. We just need a venue now... so if anyone knows one, please let me know because all this money goes to a great cause. My friend is here from Tulane this semester and just experiencing it through her makes me sad, I can't imagine what it would be like to actually live there and lose your house and everything you own. Okay well, I'm going to end my rant here with some Colin quotes of the night for comedic relief.

"so dude...you best start writing your lyrics to Your Ex Is W.A.C.K."
"who am i...i'm a motha fuckin astronaut lost in space, spittin flames without oxygen to ignite the eyes buried in yo face!!"
You better start liking Public Transportation

or fill up your gas tank NOW and then save some for later

So we all saw what happened with gas prices when Katrina hit right? The already ridiculous prices got a little more ridiculolus. Now you all may be thinking, well Mary, gas prices only went up for a week and then went back down... we can stomach that. Now you all know that Rita is on the way and well obviously gas prices will go up again, but did you guys know that there are 100 rebels in Nigera that forced an oil place to shut down? You probably never thought that 100 starving people in Nigera would ever effect you, but it's happening. They have no choice, I mean what are they going to do, protest to their government that their life sucks? What's their government going to do about it? Nothing. So they're finally speaking up... they're making a huge impact and going straight to the source that matters. Now think about all this, if Rita's coming and in the next two weeks if this Nigera thing doesn't get settled you can bet that one gallon will cost you at least $5. I wish I was lying, but that's where we are right now. This is our reality.

Thursday edition of "Laura says..."
"i forgot how good it feels to be clean"

"by the way, if you guys have time, there will be a bangin' sex program in west a.j. 5th floor crossover(right next to west end) at 7:00... before OC, it's its katherine allen, the famous human sexuality prof. she's almost as cool as J.D. Boyer"

"just say you have to go to sex in the 5th floor x-over"

"as long as you wrap it before you tap it"

"cum" if you can"

"man, sex was great! i can't believe you didn't cum"

RIDICULOUS. I love this girl. By the way her last name is Seamon... coincidence? I don't think so buddy. And in 6 years... it's going to be Dr. Seamon to you. Ha ha, I could go on FOREVER. But dude seriously, Dr. Seamon? How fantastic.

Brought to you by the word CRUNK. Nicely done Ryan. Nicely done.  Posted by Picasa

I kiss flippin everyone. Ha ha Giles is ruining our glorious picture. What a jerk.  Posted by Picasa

Ha ha I look retarded. Well, so does Keirn. We're just a little under the influence.  Posted by Picasa

Shottttty. Posted by Picasa

I'm gonna say this was Friday night pre-mary on the sidewalk.  Posted by Picasa

Look what I found.

I was going through some of the pictures on my computer today and I came across this one. The Sigmas taking a shopping break after our day in none other than... GEORGETOWN. Anyway, even though this is blurry, I really like the way it captures the fast pace of life in DC and how sometimes you need to just stop for a minute and breathe (which we are doing like experts here in this picture).

PS: My leg is fabulously distorted.

Concerned citizens of VT making sure that I am okay. I was fine... just a little doneskies. We call this celebrating before you even win a football game. This tends of happen a lot you know... the day before you play a team like Ohio. 45-0. Yeah. Ridic. Posted by Picasa

Me being doneskies on the sidewalk in Hunters Ridge Friday night with Keirn hovering over my legs. (You have to give credit, where credit is due) Later that night, Keirn lost her flip flops featured here in this picture. If you find them and return them... she might just give you a hug. More pics coming soon... it was a ridiculous weekend. Posted by Picasa

Note: Please do not call me if you're a) not going to talk b) vent and then hang up. I think it's a little rude actually.

Note number 2. Hokies raped Ohio today 45-0. NICE! And therefore, you can bet that we are all celebrating this wonderful victory and helping Sagar cope with the loss of his car in a terrible accident this morning. (PS: Sagar is fine, he's just a little shaken) Patrick also comes back tomorrow which is cause for celebration. In addition, Carden and crew along with Patrick are planning a trip to good ol' VPI next weekend (the weekend of the GA Tech game) and I can't be more excited right now. So everybody mark your calendars because you're coming out with us no matter what. WASP party.

PS: I'm sick and pills don't mix well with alcohol. FYI... as I found out the hard way this morning.

Just so everybody knows... Zach is alive in the flesh. I saw him last night, hugged him and have pictures to prove it. Nice. Favorite Zach quote of the night: "Whattttttt? You have a boyfriend? Sorry, not allowed." I love this kid. So happy I got to see him last night at Jerry, Hunter, Shea, and Maddie's apartment where we all just happened to be doneskies before even walking out the door to party hop. Last night was good times. I got to see everyone I wanted to. I ended the night at Drew L's townhouse watching Good Will Hunting on the verge of passing out on his couch. Afterwards, I came back to my place to receive this message from Laura: haha, in the siht iand i iknow it even if i may or nmay not be alittle drukn at the omemnt ,mayr is the shit, just to throw it out ther, luv you bitch. Ha ha, love it. It was pretty much a great end to the night. Today we're playing Ohio, so I'm pretty sure we'll throw down tonight too because we're going to win. Oh yeah, also I'm pretty sure Patrick and I had another text message marathon where he made fun of me for leaving ridiculous messages for him on his voicemail. Ha ha... loser. Anyway, time to celebrate a win before it even happens. :) Posted by Picasa

Nikki Giovanni poem of the day

"Just a New York Poem"
i wanted to take
your hand and run with you
together toward
ourselves down the street to your street
i wanted to laugh aloud
and skip the notes past
the marquee advertising "women
in love" past the record
shop with "The Spirit
In The Dark" past the smoke shop
past the park and no
parking today signs
past the people watching me in
my blue velvet and i don't remember
what you wore but only that i didn't want
anything to be wearing you
i wanted to give
myself to the cyclone that is
your arms
and let you in the eye of my hurricane and know
the calm before

and some fall evening
after the cocktails
and the very expensive and very bad
steak served with day-old baked potatoes
after the second cup of coffee taken
while listening to the rejected
violin player
maybe some fall evening
when the taxis have passed you by
and that light sort of rain
that occasionally falls
in new york begins
you'll take a thought
and laugh aloud
the notes carrying all the way over
to me and we'll run again
together
toward each other
yes?
I miss this city. [Plans to be there May 2006 are underway]

Why I love VPI, school spirit edition

- We have badass jets fly over our stadium before games
- Cannons go off everytime we score (if it's a night game, fireworks light the night)
- Kanye West sings about one of our professors in his song "Hey Mama" Yeah, that's right Nikki Giovanni, poet extraordinaire is proud to call herself a hokie and we're damn proud to have her. Does Kanye effing West sing about profs at any other school? Neg.
- We've got a BEAMER
- Number 4 FB team in the nation, number one in the ACC
- Nationally ranked dining halls
- Wireless everything, everywhere
- Foam soap in the bathrooms
- Crazy amazing alumni
- New Box Seats
- A stadium ranked number 1 for home field advantage!
- Hokie stone... because brick is cliche

I'm so proud to call this place my HOME.
This is neat and outrageous... Noutrageous perhaps?

Buy the World... or a nice chunk of it

We all talk about buying her own islands, but who knew it was this accessible? Very neat idea. Also, extremely ambitious and over the top. Hopefully these islands aren't located where tectonic plates converge.
"Keep it infinitely real"
-Colin Dunning.

So much love for Mr.Dunning and the lovely messages on IM or by way of text messages on my phone all the way from California. I receive them at the most random times of the day and more than likely they say random things such as "keep it infinitely real" or "i have trendy eyes," etc. etc. What a quality human being. Can't wait to reunite for his thesis premier.

In other news, our favorite Wake boy Pat is really lucky and is on his way to New York as I type. I'm so envious. Not only am I obsessed with the city... the fact that he's going to see an impressive showcase of indie bands (and not so indie bands) for a journalism project makes me tear up a little bit. What an awesome opportunity. So glad he's seizing it. I'd take it personally if he didn't. Anyway check out the bands he gets to see and fight to hold back those tears.

Patrick is so lucky

Kanye effing West. That's who.

I'm not a huge fan of rap or hip hop, or a combination of both. Anyway, Matt sent me the Kanye West CD today, the new one. It's called Late Registration and it's number one on the charts right now. And you know, those charts are really shitty because a few weeks ago R.Kelley's CD was number one so that says a lot. Anyway, I must say, I really do like this CD. I'm jumping on the Kanye bandwagon. Better late then never right? Anyway favorites include: Addiction, Hey Mama, Gold Digger, and Touch the Sky. The whole CD is great. I've been listening to it on repeat.

"I gotta testify, come up in the spot looking extra fly!"
YEAHHHH KANYE.
So Laura pretty much made my day again.

a) Check out her O-Chem Prof. He is one sexy beast, and by sexy beast I really mean, not at all. That pose is ridiculous. It reminds me of that scene in Napoleon where Deb is doing the glamour shots and uncle rico poses like that. Anyway this is what colin had to say, "this face says only one thing: 'Hey, do you like ions, because I have candy in my van, little girl.'" Exactly.

b) you guys won't get this, but it makes me laugh... *deep inhale* "DO ME!"

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind party this week.

Hosts: Matt and Drew
Place: Matt and Drew's pad (given)
Time: TBA

My parents sent me this movie. Mom says it's about a girl who runs away from love. I've heard good things but never got around to seeing it. Matt offered to screen at his place because he has a DVD player (mine is busted, still). Plus, Matt and Drew have a sweet TV and surround sound. Who's going to say no to that? Anyway, it's going to be fun. I'm guessing we're going to do this Wednesday or Thursday... keep checking, I'll post the date and time soon.
Thinking about that day...

The responsibility that now lies before this nation is a far different one, for we are the entrusted with the memories of those who perished. It is our responsibility to return to the most sensitive of memories, the raw emotion that will be forever associated with the terror of that fateful day. Though it may be a nearly unbearable pain to come face to face with these recollections, it must be done. It must be done in order to enshrine the most valuable of what was taken from us, for we must remember in a way that future generations will never be able to. In the years since September 11th we have begun to cope with what occurred on that day, to come to terms on some level with the seeming unreality of the situation. But it is important that on this day of remembrance that we revisit loss, recall emotion, and vow never to let the memory of those departed fade.

If R.Kelly can do it, Colin can probably do it better.

Colin: yeah i can't write anymore songs with the word bitches in it
Colin: i need to move on....
Colin: i'm writing a song called
Colin: Hop On This Bus Slut and Other Love Stories
Colin: it's a 38 part song
Colin: we're releasing parts 1-5 and a half
Colin: on eight discs
Colin: it's gonna take lyrics to a whole new level
Colin: because we're writing them in Latin, Arameic, and Greek
Colin: i swear to you it's poetry and all gravy
Colin: but def off the heezy
:)

Pat: you gotta come on down here sometime
Pat:we can try to have a party here.
Pat: the basedow party?
Pat: eh? ehhhh?
Pat: haha
Me: sold.

Yesterday I went to the gym with Keirn and did 6.15 miles and five miles the day before. This is a new installment in my life called, "whoever dies the skinniest wins." Joking. Anyway, it felt pretty effing good. An added bonus was that there was a football player right next to us. Yeah, I was pretty much in awe. Couldn't really talk to him if I wanted to so I just stared like an idiot and he probably felt uncomfortable. I'm sure he gets it a lot though... football players are a big deal around here. Anyway, that's my claim to fame for the day. Just thought I'd share.

Shameless Advertisement on Dylan's behalf.

Listen to his Radio Show live from JMU, Saturday nights at 10pm (before you go out, or if you're just simply staying in). Great indie music that will make your heart thump... that is if your heart likes to thump to Elliott Smith, John Wilkes Kissing booth and the like. Anyway, to listen or for more details go to this website: TheJollyHoliday

In other news...
Patrick had his first radio show yesterday. I tuned in. And not only was it GREAT... this lucky lady had two songs played in her honor. A new death cab song (I will follow you into the dark), a favorite of mine anddd The Calendar Hung itself by Bright Eyes... And get this, it was consecutive. Yeah, I think he was trying to make my day or something. He's been getting really good at that lately. :) Also, Colin tuned in and said he really enjoyed it, he must like good music or something. If only radio stations were this great. So I guess, last night was a success for Pat which is great. I look forward to the rest of his broadcasts the rest of the semester.

My cousins! Tyler and Dane. Tyler is obviously the cute one. Dane is the funny looking one. So cute... Tyler, that is.  Posted by Picasa

This morning, I discovered...

The urge to sing out loud while walking to classes hooked up to my iPod is overwhelming. Matt finally helped me set the thing up this past weekend. We are really anal about how we like our music formatted and the way all the files are stored so before putting it on to the iPod we had to go on my computer and do all that so that it was perfect. Now, all is well. And the result is me trying to resist looking like a singing idiot... we'll see how long I can actually go. I give it until the end of this week. Also, today is a sad day... with the use of this new 30 GB photo iPod comes the death of my 40GB. RIP. You were good to me.

Saturday, September 03, 2005

I'm a good citizen who drank for the Red Cross (Hurricaine). Fiji boys were donating all earnings to the cause. I went all out.

I wish I had pictures from last night. I think I woke up this morning (12pm) with the biggest hangover possibly known to mankind. Also, I'm pretty sure I was on the phone with everyone who called until 4am. I don't remember what we talked about. I'm sure it was good. Also, Keirn is coming to Tech for a semester because her school is underwater. This semester is going to be wonderful. On Friday, we're going to UVA and Jase Jase is meeting us there! It's going to be one ridiculous weekend. Can't wait.

This is the most incoherent post ever. sorry. I'm still a little out of it. Let me just say that I have no regrets. Last night was super.

Via Tony! Love it.  Posted by Picasa
