I feel a little better today... still no appetite, maybe by tomorrow.

In other news, yesterday I saw a guy with a shirt on that said, "God's Gift to Women" and sadly, he did not look like God's gift to women. It was funny, I think I laughed everytime I saw him and when I laugh I do this choking coughing thing too because that's what happens when you're sick so he probably just thought I was dying. I got my "You have died of dysentery" shirt today, the UPS man brought it by... it only said "Raspberry Dysentery" on the bag, not sketch at all... ha ha. I love it. It's a little big, but maybe that's because I've lost some weight not eating for the past three days. As if being sick isn't bad enough, I'm magically anorexic now too? Great! So apparently April is Sexual abuse/assult awarness month or something. It's a really big thing on campus every year. On the drill field there's like four rows of T-shirts that victims made and I glanced at a few of them on my way to class the past two days and they say things like "Fuck You uncle Danny" or "Thanks dad for lowering my trust in men" or "An angel died on (insert date here)" It's just really disturbing to see. There were some T-shirts with pictures of people my age or a little younger who have died as a result. It's just so sad becuase these people have done nothing wrong.

Freezing & Sick on a 60 degree day :(

This morning I woke up sounding like death (the female version, might I add). I don't know where this came from, there were no warning signs and I haven't been able to function all day. My head has been hurting and after the Empo today (2nd day in a row this week), I went to sleep and didn't wake up until 8pm. I'm constantly freezing, and I don't understand why. It's so warm and nice outside. I had on a fleece today while everyone else was walking around in T-shirts. Zach was so confused as to why I had so many layers on. Anyway, I went to sleep and was shivering the whole time, and it's not even cold in my dorm room. I've lost my appetite. Zach and I went to ABP after bio today like we always do and I got a sandwich and some soup. I took a bite of the sandwich and I ate about a fourth of the soup. I woke up and had some left over pizza for dinner and I took like three bites of that. I've had goosebumps all day. I've been taking a lot of Codine... I don't know if it's actually helping because it still hurts to talk and cough drops aren't helping at all. This sucks, but fortunately my morning classes on Thursday and Friday have been cancelled because my professors are going to be out of town giving guest lectures at other universities. So that allows me the luxury of sleeping in until noon and only having to go to one class on Thursday and Friday. I guess I just have to make it through tomorrow. But until then... I'm signing off to go to bed - the headache and goosebumps aren't gone yet. :(
I love my daddy! :D

Today I called my Dad because I had to check up on my bank statement since my bank sends all that stuff to him even though I requested for a copy to be sent to me online monthly... anyway, I've been purchasing a lot of stuff with my credit card so I called home just to make sure how much money I have left so I don't over spend (what a great daughter I am)... and Dad said that this month's bank statement hasn't come back yet, but he said he knew that I had enough money in my account so long as I don't buy a car or anything. Anyway... I still don't have an answer as to how much I have in my account, "enough" seems to be the only answer I'm getting and it works for me. That aside, I bought the Oregon Trail "You have died of dysentery" shirt today from busted tees. :D I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I love that game, who didn't play it when they were young? I love this line of T-shirts though, one day I will be the proud owner of the whole collection. But back to my phone conversation with my Dad... He asked how my easter was and said he was sad I wasn't home because it "just wasn't the same" and I know he, my mom, and my sister are going to Florida so I asked him when they were leaving. Dad felt really bad that I couldn't go because I have to be at Tech, so he told me today that he booking a flight sometime in July or something for a father-daughter trip to Florida since I can't go with them this time around. :D Is he not the best Dad ever or what?! I'm excited! I get to soak up some some rays and spend some quality time with the best Dad in the world... mine! :)

Coachy (Lemp!) and the other Alex... the biggest losers ever Posted by Hello

Today I found an old digital camera memory card that I guess I just misplaced so I uploaded the images and look what I found! The tennis team! Too bad my back is turned in the picture, I guess I'm just having a really good conversation with Alex... But ahh look it's Rachel next to me... I miss her. I miss perfect Ashburn grass and perfect Ashburn days... 5 weeks. :D Posted by Hello

Highlights of my weekend

Taking the Cake:
At the DKE house... we witness a drunken makeout session that seriously lasted like 3 hours... so all of us get tired of watching these people suck face, so Brian dares Keirn to go grab the guy's ass... so everyone around us is like she won't do it, but alas, it's Keirn, so she comes up behind him and does a little touchy feely and I think it was the funniest thing that has happened in a long time. He had the most confused look on his face and the expression on the girl's face was even better. It was classic... one of those "you had to be there" kind of moments. Everyone was shocked, I think for a second everyone just stopped what they were doing and started cracking up. Gotta love Keirn.

Don't talk Politics: So we're walking on Roanoke street just hanging out and Brian (not the one from the above story, but a different one) was talking about funny things that have happened this year... Fish is in front of us and Brian goes, "hey Fish, say no to politics" and I was really confused, obviously since this was an inside joke and I definately wasn't an insider... so Fish told me that he went to a party once, and he was dancing with this girl and I'm assuming this was around election time (he didn't really clarify) and he was having a good time until she starts asking him about his stance on Bush, Fish is not the biggest Bush fan and told her that, and she got mad and just walked away. WHO DOES THAT?! Ha ha, are you so conservative that you cannot speak to liberals? Honestly... ha ha, I felt bad for Fish, but that was pretty funny.

Drew number 3: I met a kid this weekend and his name was Drew, I know, why is everyone named Drew?! Anyway, after DKE we all went to DX to get some food, so we're all sitting outside eating and having a good time still laughing about what Keirn did earlier and he goes, "I'm so conflicted about this easter weekend, my dad is Catholic and my mom is Jewish." I could not stop laughing. So we decided that he had Jesus AND Moses on his side... and that he belives in J.Mo. Ha ha and then we all proceded to be stupid and play the phone game where you all have your cell phones under the table and call each other... it was really lame, you should never do it.

The Countdown Continues :: 5 weeks.

So in recent news... Kathryn, Rach and I finally set a date for our New York trip. We'll be there May 20th - May 24th! I can't wait, it's going to be a blast. We're probably going to be staying in Manhattan, details on what hotel to stay in is still up in the air. We all have our preferences, I'm not too particular, wherever works for me. I'm just glad we're going. :D

I talked to my mom a few days ago and I told her I was going to come home for a few days in a few weeks, but then she told me nobody was going to be home. Apparently one day last week my mom and dad decided they needed a "break" and so they're going to Florida... just because. Me = envious! My sister gets to take a week (give or take) off of school and go to sunny Miami and bask in the awesomeness! My mom asked if I wanted to go, and of course I do, but there's no way I can miss a week of classes. I'd probably miss three tests at the rate my weeks have been going here. Ha ha, I guess that's just part of the college experience, you work hard and play hard. :D So, I told my mom to go to Miami and get a nice tan on my behalf... I hope dad has fun, he desperately needs this week off, he's been so drained lately so I'm glad he gets to take some time to himself... and as for me, though extremely envious, but I only have 5 more weeks until summer break and I cannot wait, it's going to be a good summer. Horray for traveling and friends, and sundresses! Oh and movie star sunglasses in LA! :D

I am at the axis. The question is... what to do?

Friday, March 25, 2005

So I had a funny conversation with Matt today after we went to get Starbucks at University Mall...

Matt (as we see a tour group on campus): Dude that kid is so from North west DC!
Me: Man he's uppercrust, you can just tell... ha ha i think it's funny how you can tell what side of DC people are from

- Later -

Matt: just think, one day our music is going to be oldies
Me: Conor Oberst will forever live in my heart
Matt: no seriously... our kids are going to be like ewww
Me: pssshhh... not mine, my kids are gonna fucking awesome
Matt: you're kids are going to be little spoiled jerks
Me: well they'll listen to good music and can be total music snobs
Matt: I can see it now... you will only allow your kids to shop at Tysons II... and you'll give them like $1000 every week to go buy shit...
Me: "No you're not allowed to shop at Abercrombie! Abercrombie is for commoners... honey, we only wear Lacoste"
Matt: but.... but... MA!!!

Ha ha let's hope they're not like that... well let's hope they're kick ass.

Thursday, March 24, 2005

I've decided that I really like this book I'm reading for my Anthroplogy class esepcially because it does things like hyphen the word "today" (to-day, looks weird but it's so cute). Also, upon reading this book, I have decided that I need to use words like "rendezvous" more often. Not only because it's french, but because it's dead. Nobody seems to use it anymore... so the next time I see you I may ask you if you would like to rendezvous it up later, but I promise I won't ask you like that. Ha ha.

It's gorgeous out again today! I think I'm headed downtown a little later with Claterbodizzle. So that should be fun. :D

And now for the bad news...

I talked to Kathryn who's currently home for easter (yeah her school loves their students and decided to give them like a whole friggin week off - Common Virginia Tech, some of us celebrate easter! GOSH) and she told me that her dad informed her last night that they are moving to North Carolina by the end of the summer to which I responded "that's not allowed." Her mom is moving to New Jersey so there is no way she'll be able to stay in Virignia (it's no California, but when you're with you're friends, you're home). Anyway so she's moving to Hickville, North Carolina, population: Kathryn. This is so sad. Even though North Carolina is less than an hour away from Tech, I'll be home (in Northern Virginia) when she goes South so the chances of me seeing her during breaks are slim. Most of our breaks are the same anyway so it's not like I can just get in my car on a random weekend and drive down to North Carolina from Blacksburg. This is the saddest thing ever. Kathryn pratically lives at my house during the summer, we see each other every day... I suggested that she come live with me because my mom honestly wouldn't care. I'll adopt her and be her legal gardian. She's not allowed to move. Rachel sent me a message today and she was really sad about it. You can't break up the trio. You just don't do it. And even if Kathryn ends up living with her mom, she's still in Jersey a fun 4-5 hour trip. I guess this means we have to make this summer a good one. Everyone's parents are moving away now that we're all in college. My parents told me they either wanted to retire in Florida or Myrtle and they're planning on retiring when I graduate from Tech so it's soonish. I told them Florida is way too cliche and there are too many hurricanes and that would worry me and that Myrtle Beach sucks because STDs spread like a wildfire during beach week. Also, the fact that beach week happens by your house is kind of gross. We all know what goes down at beach week, I would not want my cute really young retired parents around really old retired people and really hormonally charged gross walking STDs. There is just something that unsettles me about that. So I suggested moving to Charleston, South Carolina which is gorgeous and cute and fun and sunny with lakes and dad can get a boat! Yay. Anyway, as for me, I think I'm pretty set to stay in VA no matter what my parents decide to do because my dad bought me a condominum for after college and right now it's just our place by the bay, but I guess after tech and gradschool, I'll take over. But anyway, back to the topic, Kathryn is leaving and I'm really sad. Ha ha gosh it sounds like I'm breaking up with someone... ha ha jk... but seriously, I will miss her tons, but I guess that leaves room open for suprise roadtrips to Hickville, North Carolina... Population: My best friend.

The book I'm reading for one of my class was written by a person who I believe was british or at least went to school there and I love how some of the words like center are spelled "centre" and how z's are replaced with s's.

I love it.
I love my friends!

diy0ungnsavurslf:
matt would like to know if you would accompany him to d2
Surf N Waves 04: ha ha i was going to make some chef boyardee
Surf N Waves 04: gosh do you ask everyone out on dates on behalf of matt?
diy0ungnsavurslf: haha yes
diy0ungnsavurslf: the rejection's easier for him that way
Surf N Waves 04: ha ha ha

dawnyfoofoo2004: muah* you are beautiful
*this may have been a drunken one

cubsbearsphish: you're right. it's a very beautiful thing...that happens everyday. In Ireland, that is.
The nights are getting warm again.
They’ve let you go, I let you in.
Everything you’re saying sounds right tonight.
The waves are crashing on and on.
We’re running even if we’re wrong.
This force is driving me to test the speed of light.

Man I love Spring! :D It was another flip flops, sunglasses, and sun kinda day. Minus the rain this morning... but it smelled like SPRING Rain and yes, there is a difference. Oh and the birds were chirping which means they're back! I am happy.

I have the urge to see Hitch right now
Slight problem... it's out of theatres and not rentable yet.

So... I leave you with quotes from the movie that I love:

Boyfriend: I just asked if it was Diet!
Hitch: Excuse me, by asking if it was Diet she took it as you trying to imply that she was fat. Go and get a red rose, get a regular coke and tell her that she is everything you never knew you always wanted.

Albert: I want to jump in front of every cab I see, because maybe then I'll stop thinking about her.

Hitch: Because that's what people do. They leap, and hope to God they can fly, because otherwise. you just drop like a rock, wondering the whole way down, why in the HELL did I jump? But here I am, Sarah, falling, and the only one that makes me feel like I can fly... is you.

:: sigh ::

Hitch: You got to know where to put your hand on her back. If you put it to high that's saying you just want to be friends. If you put it to low that's saying you just want to grab some ass.
Albert: Got it. Friends, ass.

Via Todd... and if Todd was here he'd say "via Collegehumor.com" so now that we've got our copyright out of the way. Look at this for awhile... give it a few more seconds... okay, did you let it marinate?! Now here's what you do... LAUGH! Posted by Hello
Oh Patrick, you are the epitome of an American Abroad... where drinking ages are low or ignored...

"Well, I'm drunk. In Ireland. Again."
The fact that it's Spring just has a way of making EVERYTHING better... :D

Which probably means I have seasonal depression. ha ha jk.

No but in all seriousness, I had to go to the EMPO today, and usually I'd be in the shittest mood ever, but no, I got to walk around in my tank top, flip flops and sunglasses all day and it was almost 60 degrees. Went to APB with Zach for lunch and got peach iced tea, the sun was out... I was happy. Not even the empo could ruin that and the empo usually ruins everything. I took my quiz today and did pretty well and then I went and bought two australian crystal bracelets. :D It made me happy, but I don't know how happy that will make my mom. It's so bad, and I couldn't resist. I was just going to buy one and then I was like ahhhh! I can't just buy one, these are gorgeous and if I knew I'd be back during the week to get the other one anyway so I decided just to get two. So that also made me happy. I mean what girl doesn't like jewlery?! Seriously. And especially since SHE gets to pick it out... ha ha. Wow anyway, my day has been made and I have an anthropolgy write up to do but you know what? I dont' care... Why? Because it's nice outside and I can feel the breeze coming through my window.

PS: It's going to be 60 this weekend and Keirn and Mike are coming. Oh and the Tiffany's catalogue came in the mail today along with the shirt I ordered online. Supurb! I need to stop buying things. The parentals are not going to be happy with this month's bill. : x Oh well, you're young once. When in Rome... (we're going to slightly change that and make that "When at Tech")
I like how when I have the dumbest away message up, EVERYBODY responds to it. :D

Auto response from Surf N Waves 04: Mmm Bop.

I know you love Hanson, don't even lie.

Dabumb316: thats pimp

diy0ungnsavurslf: ba duba dop ba do bop,
Ba duba dop ba do bop

bhouse2004: hanson, yea, cool....
bhouse2004: its good to listen to different types of music

LiLjKiM703: where u at
What's with today, today?!
(anyone catch the Empire Records reference? - Of course not)

I got an A on my Poetry Portfolio :D and a hug from Idi who I ran into on my way back from class. Apparently he was really excited because I made a sign for him because he has a track meet this weekend and put it up on his door (just like we all did to each other's lockers in High School). It was no big deal, but he seemed to appreciate it so I'm glad. He also smelled really good so now I smell like Idi who isn't a bad person to smell like.

Last night the Deacons lost to frikin WVU... now they're out of the NCAA tournament AND my valentine was benched during the 2nd overtime last night... :( But you know what, I still love these boys and I'm going to be rooting for them next year harder than ever.

And here's what Patrick had to say...

cubsbearsphish: thank you for your kind message last night. it was a heartbreaking loss.

Auto response from Surf N Waves 04: Dinner and then... total domination of Social Anthropology.

I don't care what anyone says... especially the people that texted me last night... I still love Deacon Basketball.

cubsbearsphish: and for still loving Deacon basketball, Wake Forest loves you.

PS: speaking of those who texted me last night... I really like how this guy I barely talk to who I didn't give my phone number to somehow got my number and sent me a text message that said "Choke Wake" All I have to say to him is... a) let's not text people who didn't give you their phone number to begin with because that's just weird b) screw you. They played their hearts out.

I had a fun night...

Hey Mary what did you do?

- Went to The Cellar with the girls for dinner
- Jane saying, "Buruss should be the biggest building on our campus, not 12 floors of whores"
- Made dirt... as in chocolate pudding, oreos, gummies, and whipped cream (YUM!)
- Played Risk, yes the game of ULTIMATE world domination ... not a date
- Watched The Notebook
- Produced more tears than I thought my tear ducts were capable of
- Received a text message from drew during my crying rampage that said "I'm drunk!"
- Laughed.
- Making "beer" in the sink
- Said "that game at all the carnivals you went to when you were younger where you throw the ping pong ball into a little cup/fishbowl and win a goldfish was just preparation for beerpong later in life"
- Made fun of TB riding the BT... we love her, we do.
- Took my earings off
- Wished I could be playing Oregon Trail

Good times. Goodnight.

So this is how summer is looking so far and it's pretty sweet, not gonna lie...

End of May - New York City "just because we feel like it" week with Rach, Kathryn, and possibly Yara

Mid June - Two weeks in California visiting COOLIN (horrible joke, sorry) in LA and if I have time visiting my uncle in OC (possibly an extended visit).

First week of July - South Carolina for my uncle's wedding.

2nd of August - My 19th Birthday! :D Where? TBD...

Lastly... Dominican Republic with the rents if my stay in California doesn't conflict with dates and flights etc... either way, I'm happy.

Via Jerry...
:: sigh :: this is the cutest... now if stuff like this actually happened.

Play with her hair.
Talk to her in movie theatres.
Snuggle, Hold her hand, and lightly kiss her. Pick her up and pretend you're going to throw her in the river; she'll scream and fight you but secretly, she'll love it. Hold her hand and walk. Hold her hand and run. Just hold her hand. Pick flowers from other peoples Yards and give them to her. Tell her she looks beautiful. Introduce her to your friends as "The most amazing girl I know''. Sit in the park and talk to her. Take her to the library, ice skating, playgrounds, and coffee shops. Tell her dirty jokes. Tell her stupid jokes...Whatever it takes to make her Laugh.Write poems and songs about her.Walk with her, even if its just around the block.Throw pebbles at her window at night. Surprise her. Do things that make her smile, make her laugh, and make her want to kiss you right on the face. Be spontaneous. When she starts yelling at you, tell her you love her. Give her back rubs. Play mud football with her. Play in the snow with her.Let her fall asleep in your arms.Call her... even if its just to say hi. Call her back right away if she calls you. Jump on the bed with her. Sing to her, no matter how bad you are. Carve your names into a tree. Get her mad, and then kiss her. Give her piggy-back rides. Stay up with her all night. Leave her little unexpected notes..on the car, or on her door, or in her locker saying how much she means to you. Take her to romantic places and lay out blankets to look at the stars*. Make up nicknames for each other. Show up at her school or class unexpectedly. Send flowers and dorky notes that only you two understand. Teach her guitar. Lend her your cds. Make her cds of songs that remind you of her. Write her letters. If she asks you to go to a show with her, go, even if it means a 5-hour car trip. Go out on a road trip even if theres no destination or you cant be gone long. Take her to cool shops, and let her take you to even cooler ones. Listen to her favorite songs. When shes sad or sick, hang out with her or stay on the phone with her, even if shes not saying anything. Buy her ice cream. Let her take all the pictures of you she wants. Look into her eyes. Slow dance with her, even if the music is fast. Kiss her in the rain. Kiss her in the snow... Kiss her when she least expects it. And when you fall in love with her -- tell her.

I got this in the mail today only from the coolest person EVER. Thanks ;) Attached was a cute message too. You get one million bagillion bonus points! :D Posted by Hello

Auto response from Surf N Waves 04:
Change clothes and Go...

Yeah, start your morning off with Jay-Z's black album... BADASS.

bhouse2004: listening to rap huh?
bhouse2004: thats cool, i listen to rap sometimes
bhouse2004: its good to listen to different types of music

*Anyone get Todd's reference to Scene Sucks? Anyway, if you don't, trust me - it's just funny.

yachica85: MARY IS SOO BAD ASS! haha i luv ya gurl! miss ya! have a great day!

*Gah, I miss her so much. I didn't see her over Spring break :( But, we have New York week Summer 2005 so it's all good.

PS: I, Mary really did listen to Jay-Z this morning. It was grand in that cheesy dance around your room "dirting off your shoulder" kinda way.

Oh it's super sunny in what normally is super bleaky blacksburg today which is pretty rad ass... so that means my seratonin levels are illegally high. Hope yours are too :D

Aside from being Steak and Blowjob day... it's Pi day... as in the number.

Get it 3/14
3.14....

I'm not making this up. I remember my Geometry teacher used to celebrate it and she would bring in Pies... Okay so that was probably the most irrelevant piece of information you have received all day. I'm sorry.
Okay, it's official, I think I had some pretty funny conversations today. And that's totally fine by me... NO objections.

Surf N Waves 04:
where is it
Surf N Waves 04: chi town?
Surf N Waves 04: ha ha i called it chi town
tre M kay: haha
tre M kay: yes it is in chitown
Surf N Waves 04: sweet
Surf N Waves 04: i'm like a wannabe local

Surf N Waves 04: ha ha omg great!

Horray for people like Matt and conversations like these.
THIS JUST IN...

I FOUND NOT ONE, BUT 2 DERRICK BROWN BOOKS AND ORDERED THEM.

1. That means that the past 24 hours I've spent searching for this and the time I've spent over spring break looking for this has come to an end.
2. That means that I will be getting mail
3. I will own a slice of Derrick Brown's work
4. PS: He responded to my e-mail

RAD ROCK. The end.

Okay I'm in love with Derrick Brown's poetry and it's friggin IMPOSSIBLE to find this book. I found used copies of it on Amazon for like 50 and 85 bucks... wtf? Not cool. If you can find me a place to get this I will love you forever and a day.  Posted by Hello
If you haven't fallen in love with Derrick Brown yet, what is taking you so long?

*this is a pdf file so make sure you have adobe before you open it.
Via Jane... also PS: thanks for making my day!

I was sad when Tech didn't advance in the ACC tournament after our horrible game against GA Tech, however, it IS our first year in the TOUGHEST basketball conference in the nation... and our team is a growing team so I wasn't expecting us to even make it this far and don't get me wrong, I'm glad we did. Anyway, I felt bad for our boys when we lost but I mean no one expected much from them and they definately proved us wrong... so it was bittersweet for me...

I was FURIOUS... and still was this morning when NC State beat Wake especially because Chris Paul was benched. Errrr... In case you didn't notice, I was SLIGHTLY upset. Ha ha... that's totally an understatement. But it was painful to watch that game and it was even more painful when the boys of ESPN zoomed in on Mr.Paul himself. I just wanted to cry, the look on his face was just mortifying. And in all honesty, he would have made a world of difference in the game. Wake's team is good but Chris Paul does a lot to help the team pull through. Anyway, I've been upset about this for awhile until Jane linked me to this... I am still a little upset, but I'm glad to know that people other than me and those that attend Wake believe the team will make it all the way...

I've said it time and time again... My love for Wake Basketball and Chris Paul are boundless!

... Are you convinced too?

devkid86: Seriously. Your Valentine would have made all the difference

Auto response from Surf N Waves 04:

Mary's new bitch list:

1. GA Tech
2. NC State

*Don't you EVER bench my valentine again.

devkid86: Fuck NC State.

Ugh, bad move, nobody benches Chris Paul and gets away with it... NOBODY. That's what you get. If he were playing you would still be in the tournament. And I hate NC State with a passion and I don't even go to school in North Carolina. Way to be assholes and chant about his dead grandpa... low. I hope you get what's coming to you. Until then, my love for Wake Basketball and Chris Paul STILL know no bounds.

The most crucial shoes on the face of the planet...

I heart the Nautical Shoes from this line! Apparently so does Zach, he IMed Jerry and I yesterday and told us he was getting the light and navy blue ones... Ironically I had bought a pair that morning, not int he same colors but needless to say once again Zach and I will have the exact same everything only in his and hers and we'll look like big nerds sitting next to each other in bio.

The Original Boat Shoes

PS: These are incredibly comfortable, they're water resistant, and practical... so grab a pair if you get a chance to you won't regret it. If it helps, my dad and I are going to buy a few more pairs this weekend. Are you sold yet? :D
Reed is so thermal it HURTS.

I2eedeI2: what can i say, i'm a fasion setting machine
I2eedeI2: lol i'm doing great, being a studious alcoholic

*Oh man, I haven't talked to this kid in awhile and when I do, this is what happens. Ha ha ha... good times with the Captain of the BR Debate team. :D We were losers... it's okay, even in college, we still are. Don't worry, between Reed and I, we're proudly carrying the loser torch.
Oh my GOSH.

Jerry came yesterday and we went to Potomac Mills for a day of ultimate shopping and I think she and I found THE best bean bags that have ever been made. (PS: Colin already told me about these but I didn't think we'd have them on the east coast...) But anyway these are amazing and they sell them at a store called "Love Sac" and I know it sounds sketchy, but it's really not... it's actually amazing. SO, be cool and check it out here...

Love Sac

Seriously, the worlds best bean bags... I don't even know if they're really filled with beans, they're so amazingly comfortable! If anyone feels like spending 500 dollars on a bean bag, I'd be willing to accept donations.

Surprises!

Today I learned that a good friend of mine (Beatriz) who I met when I first moved here in 6th grade is now expecting her first child. I haven't talked to her in awhile, I mean we talk from time to time but those are the rare occasions. She's a year or two older than me, I think it was two years because she moved here from Venezuela and had to start over again, however she ended up moving away and skipping a year in High School. The last time I talked to her, she told me she got married and I was thrilled. She went to college for a short period of time on scholarship but realized that's not what she wanted, and got married soon after. I'm so happy for her. Though these aren't the choices I would have made, I'm glad she did what made her happy. And now she's expecting her first child! :D I can't believe it... my friends have started familes! I'm starting to feel old, but it's a comfortable old. I guess we're all growing up. I think I've had a hard time admitting that to myself. But now I think it's hit me and I'm slowly accepting it. This is it guys... this is our time. And as for Beatriz, I'm so glad she was able to decide what she wanted to do with her life. I mean that's more than I can say for a lot of people I know. No one is ballsy enough to just do what they want to do, I hear people complain about college and how they hate it so much (I on the other hand am having so much fun) but they never do anything about it. They sulk. If you don't like it do what makes you happy or else you're just going to regret it. Take a year off and go backpacking, do whatever - follow your heart. I'm glad she took a chance and I'm so glad that it all worked out and that she's happy.

My love for Michael Phelps and his torso was reaffirmed today at 12:46pm.

Singing in the rain
Update on the situation with my Valentine.

So tonight, I asked Kaj what was up with the whole Chris Paul situation at the game against NC State because I was kind of caught off guard when Josh told me about it. Chris Paul is a great guy, he would never do something like that. So here's the real story via Kaj and the news... NC State's fans had made up a cheer about Chris Pauls grandfather who died his Senior year and that took a huge emotional toll on him leading him to do what he did. I mean of course it's not justified for him to take it out on one of NC State's players and all that... but I kinda see why that would just drive him off the wall. It's one thing to directly attack a player by chanting things like, "Paul you suck" or whatever because it happens at every school, that's just our ironic way of flattering really good players... (you wouldn't be booed if you were so good - I mean Paul was voted best player in the nation), but when it gets personal and you start chating about people's families espeically members that have passed away, that's just low. That's actually beyond low. Whatever happened to our gentlemen of the south? It disgusts me to no end. First of all, who would even come up with a cheer like that, and secondly who would think that it was such a good idea and join in? It really shows bad character and you make your school look shitty. I have no respect for NC State whatsoever. Paul, I can forgive, I mean he's benched the next game... but attacking someone like that is unnecessary and I'm really disappointed in the way people abase themselves in the manner that they do and act like it's okay. It's sickening.

Go Demon Deacs!

I wish it wasn't closed... look at the lights!  Posted by Hello

I love Georgetown for its Secret Gardens. Posted by Hello
It has been decided.

Before going home for Spring Break, Todd and I talked about how we totally should NOT be going home for a week and SHOULD be going to an island in the sun. All of our friends (older friends, make that older and WISER friends) are going somewhere really kick ass for Spring Break like Cancun (although I can see that being STD central) but regardless, somewhere better than a suburb in town x. Anyhoo... we have decided to LEARN from our mistakes this year and next year for Spring Break 2006, to go somewhere incredibly awesome, and get anyone and everyone who has the same spring break to go with us. So, with that said... how is Cabo San Lucas, MEXICO sounding to everyone for Spring Break 2006? It's not going to be as crowded and hormonally charged as Cancun, and it will be remote and sunny and perfect. Any other suggestions are totally welcome. Fiji, the Dominican Republic, let's hear it, because damn it there is no way I will be stuck in my house (though I love it) in Ashburn for Spring Break. Who's with me? Throughout your precious and short-lived college years, you will only experience 4.... 4! Spring Breaks and sadly I have already wasted one of mine (I kick myself every single day i'm here for wasting it). So now, you have to make each one count. Spring Break is the week of fun that every college student deserves. You don't hear people coming back from Winter Vacay talking about how awesome it was to hang out with the rents and the cousins who pretend to like each other for 2 weeks. You come back talking about how disfunctional your family is and how you sat on your butt watching TV because it was too cold to step outside in below zero weather and you can't wait for Spring Break. Well, Mary we have Summer break don't we? WRONG again compadres. Summer break is when you get your internship so you can prepare yourself to be a slave to the man for the rest of your life. So you'll have to wake up at the crack of dawn every day and maybe, just maybe by the end of you're week you'll have enough energy to maybe go out with a few friends. Who's going to give you a 2 week break to go wild and crazy when you're just a temp xeroxing papers for a company you couldn't give a shit about? Exactly. Spring Break is all we have! We need to make the most of it...

Man this blog entry could have been a monologue in Animal House or something... ha ha ha. :D

I responded to his away message that said "call me" by saying, "this just in, you don't have any friends, so don't expect anyone to call :D" And to that he responded....

For the record, Drew really does have friends.

Ok... I promised, so now I'll deliver. Here's Matt with black hair... Matt should just claim relation to Tony for the rest of his college career. They're like Emotwins. Matt goes to NY tomorrow with Mike and Ant... what a loser, I'm so jealous.  Posted by Hello

One of my memorable conversations with Matt in the car on our way back home from Tech as we listen to Fall Out Boy's "Tell that Mick he just made my list of things to do today" more specifically the part where he goes "Let's play this game called 'when you catch fire' I wouldn't piss to put you out. Stop burning bridges and drive off them, so I can forget about you"

Me:
Matt, if I were ever on fire, would you piss to put me out?
Matt: Yes, Mary, yes I would
Me: Thanks! You're such a great friend, that means a lot. Just so you know, I'd piss to put you out too.
Matt: But I definately wouldn't piss on Gloria if she were on fire to put her out.
Me: ha ha ha ha

*2 Hours later after we've exhausted our mixed CDs and begin to listen to the same ones over again*

Matt: I changed my mind, I'd bleed to put you out. I'd have to slit my wrist first
Me: Gosh that's so awesome of you
Matt: What are friends for?
Me: Remember, it's down the road, not across the street.
Matt: ha ha ha, I'll keep that in mind
I went to the movies tonight and saw Hitch with Kathryn after my mom made us dinner at my house. - Just like old times :D

Hitch was the funniest movie i've seen in awhile. It was really cute and funny and refreshing.... minus the one cliche part near the end, but overall I really liked it. And now I leave you with some quotes that made me smile and go "awww."

"Life isn't about how many breaths you take, it's about how many moments leave you breathless" - Hitch

"You know what it's like getting up every morning? Feeling hopeless, feeling like the love of your life is waking up with the wrong man. But at the same time hoping that she still finds happiness, even if it's never going to be with you" - Kevin Jame's character in the movie (this was so sad)

"No woman gets up thinking god, I don't want to get swept off my feet today" - Hitch

This is such a good movie, go see it if you haven't. The movie theatre disgusted me today. There were middle schoolers smoking. Yeah, they still had their braces on and I'm pretty sure none of them had hit puberty yet. It was possibly the saddest thing I've seen in awhile - as if smoking is not gross enough in itself, seeing someone so young killing themselves made me so sad. You still have your frickin braces on, take a moment and enjoy life as a kid while you still can. Don't try and grow up so fast. I wish they knew how much better off they'd be if they didn't do this. They'll probably just look back and regret it. It's just really hard to come to terms with... that people not that much older than my sister are throwing their lives away.

Oh PS: Colin was at the Oscars.

Yeah, wtf. While I was freezing my ass off here at Tech on Sunday night, trecking across the frozen tundra known as our campus, Colin was at the before Oscars thing that they always do and then went to three after Oscars parties. LUCKY! Next year, I vow to be there during Oscar season so I can go party hopping with him. If not during the Oscars than definately over Winter Break next year. And on that note... my plans have been made to go to California mid June. Colin is coming back home to visit and Jason and I will fly back with him so that is definately something to look forward to.

Anyway here's a link to the school that this lucky kid goes to:

And you can see some of the stuff they do in the Student Film section, so check that out. It's pretty interesting. I want to see Colin's stuff, but he hasn't finished his midterm yet so until then...

This just in...

Matt Brandon lives in London now and graduated last year from Wake Forest. When did I miss this?! I'm glad everything worked out for him. I feel so out of the loop sometimes. I played tennis with this kid for two summers. I think he actually taught me some of my first basic tennis skills... or maybe it was Mike Todd, but regardless, it was Matt that got me into Weezer and for that I don't think I will ever forget him. Gosh, now he's all grown up and working, it's so weird - we're all growing up... I guess it just hasn't hit me yet.

Basically this is a useless post about a guy half of you probably don't know. I guess what I'm trying to say is, time passes by quickly and if you blink, you can miss it and you may have a Matt Brandon of your own that you will soon find out about.

PS: Ladies, he's still really frikin HOT.
Oh my lawd...

A card from Kathryn that has cancelled out that shitty day I was talking about earlier...

Mary,
Hey! How is the essence of your being? I hope it hasn't been shattered by conformists. Anyway, not much to report - the collar poping society has grown here... that's a bit depressing, but I guess we have the semminarians to balance them out. I've officially decided not to major in English; I had a revelation: while writing an 8 page paper on how the prologue of Canterbery Tales accurately depicts the Wife of Bath, I asked myself, who actually cares about this shit? Not me. So it's official, I'm going to major in Sociology and minor in International Studies/Spanish. Anyway, that's all that's new for me. Yeah so this summer will be bitchin! I can't wait... you have to go to NY... It will be glorious... golden halo of cheese ha ha (that's an inside joke) I love the Postal Service CD. I always listen to it... my roomate thinks I'm crazy. Anyway, I sent Guster. Enjoy! Yeah, so hopefully I will be able to visit for Spring Break since it's so randomly early! Oh, as it turns out I'm living in a triple next year. My roomate and I are going to room with another one of our friends... that should be interesting. I hope it doesn't get too crowded. Anyway, I hope school is going well and all... remember when you think things are bad, they could always be worse. You could be eating at Pollo Compenero!! ha ha worst experience ever.

Heart, Kathryn

* This made me smile... and it also came in a package so I got cool stuff too! :)
